A coalition of Queens Hispanic business leaders held a press conference today in Corona alongside Borough President Helen Marshall and former Borough President Claire Shulman and urged the City Council to approve plans to redevelop Willets Point.

“As a long-time resident of Queens and a leader in the Hispanic business community, I fully support the redevelopment of Willets Point.   I hope that residents of Queens and throughout New York City will join me in supporting the project, and calling on their local City Council member to vote in favor of New York City’s next great neighborhood — Willets Point,” said Eduardo Giraldo, Vice President of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Queens.

Shulman and Marshall have led the battle charge for the project in recent weeks, drumming up support for the project among community and business leaders and meeting with City Council members in an effort to sway their vote.  The Council is scheduled to vote on the project one week from today — Nov. 13 — in the City Council chambers.
