Corralling the Coverage: Sept. 28 – Oct. 5

Here’s what came across the wire this week:

Mayor Bloomberg said in his radio address last week that despite the economic crisis gripping the nation, New York must invest in projects like Willets Point to ensure a bright future for the city.

The New York Post reported that Mayor Bloomberg has started to apply pressure to members of the City Council.

Former Borough President Claire Shulman plans to do the same.

She got a head start by sending out a letter to every member of the City Council. Chris McShane from Develop Willets Point signed it, and later wondered why his name was now Charles.

This riled the Willets Point Industry and Realty Association, who pointed out that Shulman is not registered as a lobbyist.

LaGuardia Community College was met with protests when they began outreach for their Workforce Assistance Plan Wednesday at Willets Point. The Daily News called it a ‘retraining revolt.’
