Corralling the Coverage: Sept. 21-27

Here’s what came across the wire this week:

The City Planning Commission didn’t exactly shock the world by approving the Bloomberg administration’s plans for redeveloping Willets Point.

The Daily News is expecting a showdown.

The News also says the Bloomberg full-court press is on. Deputy Mayor Robert Lieber, however, suspects converting the non-believers in the City Council will not be much of a struggle.

LaGuardia Community College announced a partnership with the Hotel and Motel Trades Council as part of their Workforce Assistance Program, which may not be received well by the workforce.

This could be a problem when they set up shop at Willets Point on Monday.

The city’s redevelopment plan got a healthy endorsement from the Manhattan Institute’s Julia Vitullo-Martin.

Chris McShane from Develop Willets Point is organizing a pro-development rally on Sunday, which will greet Mets fans before they have their dreams fulfilled or hearts broken.

Speaking of the Mets faithful, the guys over at MetsGeek and Metsblog weighed in on the controversy across the street from Shea.
